Demolition Across Mandurah and the Peel Region

From asbestos-era beach shacks on the coast to rural sheds up the Murray — what demolition work actually looks like, suburb by suburb.

Where enquiries are covered

Demolition enquiries through this site are referred to independent contractors working across Mandurah and the Peel region — twelve suburbs, two permit authorities. The coastal and city suburbs sit with the City of Mandurah; Pinjarra and Ravenswood sit with the Shire of Murray, which runs its own demolition permit process. The notes below describe what demolition work tends to involve in each area, because a 1970s Falcon shack and a Lakelands backyard shed are very different jobs.

Mandurah

The old town centre and the streets around it hold some of the region's earliest housing — post-war cottages and former holiday homes on blocks that today's zoning lets work much harder. That combination makes central Mandurah steady knockdown territory, with building age meaning asbestos testing is a standard first step.

Halls Head

A mix of older beach shacks toward the ocean and solid 1980s–90s brick-and-tile behind them. Coastal block values drive knockdown-rebuilds here, and jobs near the foreshore are worth an early planning conversation with the City before the permit is lodged.

Silver Sands

Beachside streets of 1970s and 80s homes, many originally built as holiday houses. Building stock of that vintage means asbestos-era materials are a live possibility, so sampling before demolition is the sensible default.

Coodanup

An estuary-side suburb where older fibro-era homes sit on generous blocks — exactly the profile that attracts subdivision and rebuild projects. Bigger blocks also mean more accumulated sheds, slabs and hardstand to price into a full clear.

Falcon

Classic old holiday-shack coast: modest cottages from the fibro decades on land now worth many times the building on it. Falcon produces some of the region's most clear-cut knockdown-rebuild cases, and pre-demolition asbestos testing is effectively a given.

Dawesville

Down toward the Cut, Dawesville mixes newer estate housing with older stock along the water. Demolition work here splits between whole-house knockdowns on the older streets and pool, shed and slab removals in the newer ones.

Erskine

An established suburb from the 1980s onward, close to the estuary. House demolition is less common than in the older coastal strips — the steady trade here is pool removals, garage take-downs and partial demolition ahead of renovations.

Greenfields

Predominantly 1980s–90s brick-and-tile. Most Greenfields enquiries are for the smaller end of the trade — pool removal, sheds, slabs and internal strip outs — rather than whole houses.

Meadow Springs

Estate housing from the 1990s and 2000s around the golf course. Houses this young rarely come down, so demolition work runs to slabs, pools and site clearing for extensions and outdoor projects.

Lakelands

One of Mandurah's newest suburbs. Whole-house demolition is rare by definition; the work is site clearing, shed removal and slab break-outs as blocks get reworked.

Pinjarra

The historic Shire of Murray townsite, with older timber and fibro homes in town and rural sheds and outbuildings around it. Permits here go through the Shire, not the City, and older townsite buildings can carry heritage considerations worth checking before demolition plans firm up.

Ravenswood

Murray River-side living, mixing older cottages with fast-growing new estates. Approvals sit with the Shire of Murray, and jobs range from riverside knockdowns to clearing rural blocks for new builds.

Outside these suburbs?

The list above matches the core service area, but Peel is bigger than twelve suburbs. If you are nearby — say Madora Bay, Wannanup or out toward Dwellingup — call (08) 9516 2266 anyway; referrals depend on the contractors' current reach, not a hard boundary line. For prices see the costs page, and for what has to be approved before any of it happens, the permits page.
